Pilot of the Future.

Annoyingly I'd, correctly, called him 'Colonel' Dare in my sketches for this, and then went and called him 'Captain' when I got to drawing it up proper.  Oh well.

I'm waiting for notes on a script, and to abate nerves, I drew this.  Dan Dare was one of the first comic strips I came across, in some Eagle Annuals my dad had from the 1950s.  Between that, The Victor Books for Boys, Hotspur and 2000AD, I consumed a fair bit of home-grown comic heroism.  Frank Hampson's original Dare strips were lush and filled with that wonderfully antiquated view of the future - great Deco space-liners filled with post-war values.  And in the Mekon, a weird, iconic little villain.  Here's some daft little reboot that goes nowhere.  I had nothing beyond that pun (apologies if it's been used anywhere else before now).

I tried a colour version of this, and it looked even worse.

Anyway.
